Induction task.

Research is a group or piece of information that has been recorded through different ways. there are two types of research, primary is a collection of data you have collected yourself this could include doing a questionnaire or an interview this would get a brief idea for an answer if thats what you wanted.

Secondary research is when you will use someone else research this could be using newspapers, websites or videos to collect data to help you answer questions. I will mainly be using secondary research as i that is my preferred sort of research and most often reliable sort as it is often produced by professionals also I’ve had most experience with secondary as when i studied for my GCSES i only used secondary as there was no need to use primary research .

i don’t have many computer music skills however through out the course i want to be able to make my own songs, so throughout the course i will want to develop my logic skills. i also want to be able to loop my guitar playing so i can play along side it i could do this using logic which i believe i will be able to do soon into the course. i have only ever used garage band on a mac to record my guitar playing. i never recorded it at a level that was good so i want to be able to use a software where i can record it and mix it with other sounds.

Studio production is a method of recording music which most often gets the highest quality results and while in a professional studio there are lots of rules you will have to follow the most important is to always be on time especially as they will charge you if late this can often be very expensive  secondly you must keep the studio clean as it would be disrespectful to leave it in a mess and wouldn’t be able to use that studio again. I have had no studio experience but throughout the course i will be able to use a studio effectively.

In the Arctic monkeys song “do me a favour” it starts with a consistent drum beat and than at 00:05 the bassist Nick O’malley starts with the first bass line then the main guitar part starts at 00:11 then vocals for verse 1 start at 00:16 then at 00;37 there is a brief break in the music then continues with verses 1 then starts again 20 seconds later. At 1:20 the 1st chorus starts with an increased tempo. then goes back to break at 1:41 verse 2 starts at 1:50 with only vocals, guitar and bass, and with a slower pace with no drums. as the drums kick back in at 2:13 the tempo increases the drums emphasise this. at 2:24 the same verse gets repeated this to build up the end chorus for effect. At  2:34 the tempo increases massively and get a lot louder for effect to build up the chorus. Vocals start at 2:55 which start the last chorus. Then everything finishes leaving just the delay sounds to fade out to end the song.

Audition process

I chose the song waterfall by the stone roses to cover as i believe it sounds really good acoustic the song was released in 1989.

i researched the song and mainly acoustic versions as that was what i was doing so i could see what and how other people were playing the song and if there was anything else i could add towards my piece.

Screen Shot 2018-09-18 at 14.27.27.pngScreen Shot 2018-09-18 at 14.27.41.pngThese are the chords and lyrics through the song however i didn’t play these chords i played a riff around the chord of dsus2.

for the equipment had a microphone in front of my epiphone ej200sce which i bought because i likes the tone of the guitar

Process.

To practice i played through the song and anything i made a mistake at i would redo 5 time if i got them all right i would move on to play it again and would do that at least 3 times a day.

I used my epiphany ej200sce to play and played into a s.e.x1 microphone. which I’m my opinion souned very good i could of plugged it into an amp and record it that way but i prefer the sound from a microphone more than the pickups

For the process we arranged so everyone who played the same instrument next to each other this would make it a lot easier for people who are setting up.
